NOUVEAU TRAITEMENT DE LA MCJ
Bonsoir,

Remarquez que cette patiente a été diagnostiquée nvMCJ en juin. On ne dit pas sur quels critères. Nous sommes en août et elle va bien, tant mieux, mais ce n'est vraiment pas la première fois qu'on constate des améliorations transitoires dans cette maladie.
Le cocktail des médicaments utilisés comprend la Chlorpromazine (Largactil=neuroleptique sédatif) et un antiparasitaire (Quinacrine).
Les études préalables ont été réalisées sur des souris de laboratoire infectées par le mauvais prion. Les souris traitées ont vécu un mois de plus que les non traitées.Les cellules des souris infectées ont aussi été mises en culture et soumises ou non à l'adjonction de ces substances dans le milieu de culture.

Enfin, Prusiner aura eu son scoop, après tout, c'est ça qui l'intéresse, comme Gallo, quand il a annoncé la découverte du virus du sida (?) en 1984, lors d'une conférence de presse avant de s'adresser aux milieux scientifiques.

La théorie "protéïne only"ne vient même pas de lui, mais d'un mathématicien qui a émis cette hypothèse ( comme quoi il n'est pas nécessaire qu'un acide nucléïque soit associé à une protéïne pour que celle-ci puisse se multiplier et être infectieuse).
Quant à la découverte" de Gallo, je préfère m'abstenir de commentaires.

Un autre patient traité par le cocktail Prusiner a continué à se déteriorer.

Remarquer bien la subtilité qui consiste à rechercher des médicaments anciens; Ils ont déjà été approuvés par la FDA et peuvent donc être commercialisés immédiatements pour cette indication. On pourra les associer dans la même gélule et donner un autre nom de marque plus raccoleur.

Lors de tests sur des neurones de rat, ce peptide a reduit la mort
cellulaire de 40%. Les chercheurs pensent que ce peptide agit en
interagissant avec l'excretion ou l'activation d'une substance qui signale la mort cellulaire. La compagnie va commencer les experimentations animales en fevrier en cooperation avec l'universite de Kyushu. Si les effets sont confirmes chez l'animal, ils prevoient de commencer les essais cliniques aussi vite que possible.
