EPA 01-06 EPA MEETS TO DISCUSS THE CREATION OF AN ENDOCRINE
DISRUPTOR
METHODS VALIDATION SUBCOMMITTEE
EPA
is planning to establish an Endocrine Disruptor Methods Validation
(EDMV) Subcommittee under the National Advisory
Council
for Environmental Policy and Technology. This action is one step in
EPA's implementation of a screening program, as mandated by the Food
Quality Protection Act of 1996, for endocrine disruptors (chemicals
that disrupt the hormonal system). The EDMV Subcommittee will
provide technical advice and recommendations to EPA regarding the
design and validation of studies for the Endocrine Disruptor
Screening Program.
EPA held a meeting on April 24, 2001,
in Arlington, VA, to seek public input from all interested parties on
the organization of this new Subcommittee and nominations for
individuals to serve on the Subcommittee. EPA will continue to
receive nominations until June 6, 2001. More information about
the EDMV Subcommittee and the Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program
can be found at www.epa.gov/scipoly/oscpendo/index.htm.
