Contrainte et forcée à produire un dossier sur mon expérience professionnelle pour les besoins d'un concours, je veille à ne pas être prise en flagrand délit de ne pas avoir suivi l'évolution de la normalisation en matière d'analyses microbiologiques !
Existe-t-il aujourd'hui des méthodes officielles ou normalisées pour la recherche de Campylobacter et Yersinia enterocolitica en microbiologie alimentaire ? (pour Campylobacter, j'ai utilisé pendant quelques années celle apprise à Pasteur Lille, proposée par Francis Mégraud : enrichissement en bouillon Preston).
(Si les TIACs à Yersinia ou Campylobacter ne sont pas si fréquentes, c'est peut-être parce que ces germes sont peu souvent recherchés en biologie médicale, alors que je peux témoigner qu'il se passe rarement longtemps avant d'en isoler de selles dès lors qu'on ensemence le milieu ad hoc!)

Pour ce renseigner sur le normes d'analyses, il faut aller voir (au risque de se répéter) que le site de l'AFNOR (www.afnor.fr) est tres bien conçu et donne toutes les références que l'on pourrait souhaiter.

Ce qui se passe aux Etats-Unis d'amérique est une chose et ce qui se passe en France est une autre chose. Sans minimiser le risque lié à Campylobacter en France, peut-on raisonnablement

J'ai actualisé la page CAMPYLOBACTER de mon site en y incluant les statistiques annuelles de cas par Pays.

Si d'autres personnes trouvent ce type d'informations, sur internet ou ailleurs, je suis preneur.

Ces statistiques traitent du germe, mais pas exclusivement par rapport au facteur alimentaire, bien qu'il soit apparemment majoritaire.

Concernant la France je n'ai pas trouvé d'information. Les archives du BEH ne sont d'ailleurs pas accessibles.

Concernant les Etats-Unis et le Royaume-Uni, j'aimerais savoir comment les experts s'y sont pris pour obtenir les estimations de 740 et de 655  cas pour 100.000 habitants.

Je prends l'exemple de l'article du CDC qui indique donc en 2000 une déclaration de 6 pour 100.000 habitants, mais qui estime la réalité à 740

Je me pose la même question concernant le chiffre global de 5000 cas d'intoxication alimentaire mortelle (tous germes confondus) aux Etats-Unis. D'ailleurs jusqu'en 1997 c'était 9000 cas qui étaient régulièrement cités.

Je pense également qu'il serait intéressant d'affiner les statistiques en prenant compte de l'âge et du facteur d'immunodépression dans les  statistiques (concerne notamment le SIDA).

Cet article m'a interpellé pour plusieurs raison.
Le titre me paraît dans le ton volontairement alarmiste.
A ce sujet je vous invite à lire le dernier rapport parlementaire sur l'ESB qui a dénoncé certaines dérives dans les titres de presse

Deuxièmement, l'article de TF1 nous fait part de l'estimation française de cas d'intoxication à Campylobacter, à savoir 500.000 pour 2001. Ceci nous ramène aux statistiques des pays industrialisés, voire un peu plus que la moyenne (env. 120 cas pour 100.000 habitants).

J'ai revu dans les archives de la liste que Le Monde du 28 juin 1999 avait indiqué que l'estimation du nombre de cas d'intoxications alimentaires en France était de 150 000 à  200 000 (chiffres 1997). Je ne sais pas si ces estimations sont encore les mêmes, mais elles devraient être revues à la hausse si l'estimation concernant Campylobacter s'avère exacte.

En tout état de cause les chiffres que donnent différents pays montrent bien une constante progression de ce germe en tant qu'agent causal d'intoxication. Ce phénomène ne me semble pas étranger à la résistance aux antibiotiques qui le caractérise.

Le fait qu'il suffit de très peu de germes (400 à 500) et que la toxine parvient à résister assez longtemps autour de 60°C me semble aussi préoccupant (25 min à 57°C - 25 min à 63°C) selon la FDA http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~mow/chap4.html

Concernant l'estimation Campylobacter sur 100.000 cas citée dans l'article de TF1, le chiffre exact serait de l'ordre de 833 et non pas de 120 comme indiqué ci-dessous.
Ce chiffre nous rapproche donc de ceux particulièrement importants des Etats-Unis et du Royaume-Uni.

Il a toujours été admis (mais les choses ont peut être changé???) que les campylobactérioses digestives alimentaires sont des Toxi-Infections et non des Intoxinations...Affaire à suivre...

N'est ce pas aussi, comme il ya 15-20 ans pour Listeria, qu'on se préocuppe plus de ce germe et qu'on le recherche plus systématiquement dans les cas de TIA, alors qu'avant cette recherche etait rarement réalisée ??

On y trouve notamment un tableau qui montre à la fois le décroissement de Salmonella et l'accroissement de Campylobacter dans la déclaration des intoxications alimentaires, et ceci avec une progression constante depuis le début des années 1990.

Le phénomène est pratiquement identique en Nouvelle-Zélande où il a
cependant été constaté un pic de Salmonella en 1999.
